Pediatric orthodontics

As children’s permanent teeth begin growing, early intervention can become essential. A pediatric orthodontist can ensure your child’s teeth have enough space to grow and prevent problems from occurring as they get older.

Mik Ortho is dedicated to providing high-quality pediatric orthodontics to help families receive the care they need throughout Fort Worth and Crowley.

Benefits of using a pediatric orthodontist

Orthodontic treatment can benefit your children’s oral health at an early age. According to the American Association of Orthodontists, the ideal time for children to receive their first orthodontic checkup is around age seven. When children attend orthodontic checkups, you can get an idea of how well their teeth are coming in and get ahead of any developmental issues. A pediatric orthodontist has the knowledge and experience working with children to provide a safe, comfortable environment.

Our pediatric orthodontic services

At Mik Ortho, we provide a wide range of pediatric orthodontic services to help your child’s teeth and jaw develop correctly. We use the latest technology to treat patients and provide the highest quality service. Some of our most common treatments include:

  • Phase-One treatment: We will focus on your child’s jaw development so it can comfortably hold permanent teeth and have a proper bite. Phase-One treatment also can help crowded teeth. Your pediatric orthodontist may suggest braces or use other orthodontic appliances such as dental palate expanders or dental spacers as part of the treatment.
  • Braces alternatives: Sometimes, braces are unnecessary to achieve results. Depending on the patient’s initial condition, we have treatment plans that can help align teeth without using braces.
  • Overjet: When a child has an overjet, or protruding front teeth, we can apply a two-phase treatment to correct the problem. We’ll apply Phase-One treatment to help encourage better jaw growth. Once that’s complete, we’ll move on to Phase-Two treatment, focusing on teeth alignment.
  • Teeth spacing: We can help close spaces between teeth with braces treatment and an orthodontic retainer.
